Hands-On Azure Labs: Building Redundant Cloud Solutions
Lab 14: Deploy and Configure EAST01 Virtual Machine
Lab Overview
In this lab, you will deploy a Windows Server 2019 VM named EAST01 in the East US region. You’ll integrate this VM into an availability set to enhance redundancy and fault tolerance, mirroring the setup you completed in the West US region. By the end of the lab, EAST01 will be part of a load-balanced solution, ready to serve web traffic in tandem with other East US resources.
Learning Objectives
By completing this lab, you will be able to:
- Deploy a Windows Server 2019 virtual machine (EAST01) in East US.
- Join an availability set (or create one) to ensure high availability and resiliency.
- Configure a NIC network security group (NSG) rule to allow HTTP traffic on port 80.
- Add EAST01 to the LB-East backend pool, preparing it for load-balanced operations.
Exam Relevance
Skills demonstrated in this lab support:
- AZ-104 (Azure Administrator): Validates your ability to provision and manage Azure compute resources across multiple regions.
- AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect): Emphasizes best practices in designing highly available, regionally redundant architectures.
