Hands-On Azure Labs: Building Redundant Cloud Solutions
Lab 25: Add Second Origin to Default Origin Group
Lab Overview
In this lab, you will expand your Azure Front Door CDN configuration by adding a second origin to the default origin group. This allows AFD to retrieve content from multiple storage accounts, automatically selecting the best origin based on availability and proximity. By introducing multiple origins, you enable fault tolerance, geographic redundancy, and more efficient content routing across your multi-region storage setup.
Learning Objectives
- Configure multiple origins in a single Azure Front Door CDN profile.
- Understand origin groups and how they distribute requests among multiple backends.
- Enhance redundancy by ensuring content is available from two separate storage accounts.
- Prepare for custom routing policies and advanced load-balancing rules in the CDN.
Exam Relevance
- AZ-104 (Azure Administrator): Confirms competency in extending CDN configurations for redundancy and performance.
- AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect): Reinforces best practices for multi-origin and multi-region content distribution to improve reliability and scalability.
