Lab Overview

In this lab, you will learn how to assign Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) roles to users in Microsoft Azure. You will be guided through the process of selecting a resource group, assigning the “Virtual Machine Contributor” role to a specific user, and verifying the role assignment. This exercise ensures you can effectively manage access within a resource group, allowing team members to perform tasks according to their assigned roles while maintaining security and compliance.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this lab, you will be able to:

Navigate to the Access Control (IAM) section within a resource group in Microsoft Azure.
Search for and assign RBAC roles, such as “Virtual Machine Contributor,” to users.
Understand and configure role assignment types and duration settings.
Verify that role assignments have been correctly applied to users or groups.

Autoscaling Metrics

Host metrics: CPU, memory, disk (no agent needed).
Guest metrics: Custom counters (Azure Diagnostics Extension).
App Insights: Application-level performance metrics.
Rules: Min/max capacity, scale-out/in thresholds, cooldown periods.

Autoscale rules use metrics from Load Balancer, Diagnostics, or App Insights.
